i have yet to find a thread on this forum that discusses the gopro.
how is the gopro for travel photography and for photography in general? i know people swear by it for video, but wondering about the photography side of it.
i currently have a 1d2n and its heavy as all hell to carry all my gear when i travel overseas or when im out at a nice dinner.
whats your experience with the gopro. how do you like it? have you tried the gopro 4?
I have mixed feelings on the GoPro and I probably haven't given it a fair enough chance to shine. I bought it for underwater stuff mostly when I was diving more often, and it's really easy for that. For my uses I tend to find it somewhat limited otherwise, and I haven't really been able to get into video as much as I would have hoped. The extreme wide angle takes some getting used to; however, a lot of people can get some pretty decent (shareable on social media) photos, but I generally prefer my cell phone for casual snapshots. I do appreciate the ruggedness of it though, and I use it most when I'm at the beach or hiking tougher terrain where I wouldn't be as comfortable with my SLR. I travel a lot and typically rely on my 6D or Galaxy S6 phone for photos, so to me the GoPro is more of a specialty tool than all around travel replacement.

Awesome photos! Would appreciate it if you could share where you went, stayed, etc. Thanks!
We stayed at Fihalhohi Island resort - it was the least expensive resort we could find that still had overwater bungalows. Totally worth the experience staying in one of them, especially since Maldives is the type of place that most people don't get to more than once! The rooms were simple and rustic, yet clean and had the basics we wanted; food was just ok and nothing to write home about, but passable; the island and beach were absolutely incredible, and its probably ruined all future beach trips for us!
