My wife and I made our first trip of the spring season to the Montezuma National Wildllfe Refuge in upstate NY. Still lots of ice around, and the Wildlife Drive through the refuge hasn't opened yet. There were lots of snow geese as well as tundra swans, mallards, black ducks, pintails, and American widgeon. The bonus species was a nice male ring-necked pheasant we spotted in some corn stubble, haven't seen a rooster in years! We expect to make several more visits in coming weeks as the ice melts in hopes of seeing the smaller ducks and lots of muskrat activity. Enjoy!

Thanks, Trevor. The shot of the snow geese flock is a small portion of the total, maybe less than 10%. I stitched a panorama of about 10 shots together than looks pretty cool on my computer, but to reduce it to any kind of reasonable file size the detail gets lost. We guessed maybe 25,000 birds in the flock. With the non-winter and early spring, the snow geese passed through the area very quickly and we were lucky to catch them on our first trip out. John
