The 7 D Mark II doesn't recognize telephoto lens. Please guide how to configure telephoto lens on it.

Thanks

Jai.

Is this a Canon lens or another brand? Normally this should not be an issue - just pop the lens on and go. What exactly is the camera not doing? Are you getting error codes, is it not auto-focusing, is it metering improperly or not at all? Please give us some more info so we can do a better job of helping :-)

It is Canon EF 300 mm F/2.8 L II lens. Attach it with camera and click but no image is taken nor any error message is flashed .

It is not necessary to "configure" a lens for the 7D2.

It would be helpful if you could provide more information.

For instance, does the 7D2 work with other lenses? What is the history of the telephoto lens? And so on...

Very odd , you might want to clean the contacts on the camera and lens ,a gentle wipe over with a clean cloth should be all in needs.

Rob.

What was the last lens you used on your 7D and did it function fine?

I have had a similar issue when using off brand Fotodiox tubes on occasion. I usually just remount and it takes off. I would check to make sure you are getting a good mount with solid click and clean the contacts.

Yes it worked normally with other lens, the 70-300 L . The EF 300mm F/2.8 L is a new lens which I use on my 6D . I wanted to test it on 7d MkII but it didn't work.

You are in the best position to solve the puzzle, because only you know the details of the situation.

With the new lens attached, can you see through the viewfinder at all?

Sorry you never worked it out - you would have enjoyed the camera plus we were all quite curious. The 5d3 is a marvelous camera.
