Anymore recommendations? Im going to be doing a lot of outdoor portraits. What would be my best bet and easiest to use? This is my first flash of any kind. I usually only shoot natural light.

Have you thought about the Rovelight RL600? $399 from Adorama. 600ws light with HSS abilities. I believe it is a manual only (no TTL) strobe if that matters to you.

If you are willing to wait a bit, Godox is getting ready to ship its Wistro AD600 to the US market.

It has the benefit of ETTL as well as 600Ws and battery power. Additionally, there is an option to mount the flash tube remotely.

Cheetah Stand is going to be one importer, probably B&H and Adorama as well.

It seems like Adorama may be getting the exclusive to TTL version of the AD600. Maybe only Bowens mount. The TTL versions were pulled from ebay recently when that rumor hit, but the AD600BM (Bowens Manual) are still available.

Adorama won't be exclusive.

Cheetah Stand will have them and probably others as well.

Just basing that on what I read in a few places, including this:

"I’m not sure if you have heard some people mentioning Adorama may take on exclusive rights to sell the AD600 in the USA. Again I’m not sure that has actually been finalized one way or another yet either. Some people have been saying that is for the TTL version only, though again I don’t know if that is actually the case or not either." - See more at: http://flashhavoc.com …ced/#sthash.15JbDDq6.dpuf (external link)

Not sure how you get that out of the FlashHovac review.
It lists Adorama as a US source but nothing about exclusivity.
I also know that the Edward is planning to provide the AD600 as a Cheetah Light product.

Since he is the guy that started the Godox craze in the US I doubt that they would cut him out of the US market.

I read somewhere else too, but couldn't find it again. I thought someone had been pretty sure from inside Godox, but it looks like I just misread something.

Is Adorama going to brand this as a Flashpoint light?

You probably remember the information from this post by abbadon31.

Only thing that is different between the 2 is just the ETTL and Edward will only offer the Bowens mount. If you want the ETTL version then you will have to get it from Adorama at this time or other online places.
Ettl is nice, but I never use it, but there are people that do.

HSS will mix just fine on both units since is just like shooting manual flash. Just have to set your power settings to your taste. HSS is just allowing you to shoot over sync speeds. HSS will reduce your recycle time and how many shots you can have before it goes into overheat mode. Having the HSS option is a the big plus and have ETTL is an extra bonus.

Having used both, and sold the Einsteins after getting the AD360s, here are my thoughts related to outside portraiture with both.

The Einstein is a great light. Its heavy on the top of a light stand. Its modifier attachment system is a weak point, especially if there is any wind. The VML is a great battery system for AC strobes but doesn't provide the same recycling speed that mains current does when near full power.

The Godox lights are small and light, the battery is small and light. Using a longer battery cable permits placing the battery at the bottom of the stand.

I use umbrella frame modifiers with the Godox AD360s which are easy to setup and securely attached to the light via the umbrella adapter fitting on the head. This combined with a cold shoe mounted on a Justin Clamp provides sufficient flexibility to tilt the light and modifier as required.

If more than 30Ws is required, which I think will be infrequently, I'd lean toward two AD360s inside the modifier rather than the AD600.

The AD600 with the remote cable to place the body of the unit at the bottom of the stand appears to be a viable alternative. I'd get it with TTL capabilities just in case.

For me, bottom line, the TTL option with the Godox system makes everything else a distant second place.
Add to that the HSS capabilities which the Einstein can't do and its not even a contest for me.

Adorama will be the Only US base seller at this time that will be carrying the New ttl versions of the 600. Cheetahstand will only be carrying the Non TTL version at this time. Things could change at any point in time. The standard screen colors are a bluesish for TTL and Green for Non TTL, but Cheetahstand's non ttl will have the blueish screen and not the green that the other will carry.

Both companies offer great service and fast delivery. Hats off to both Helen and Edward
