Finally got the Canon FL 35mm 2.5 to match my 55mm 1.2, for being 50+ years old it actually holds it's own with my modern Canon 35mm 2.0.

Except wide open it does have a very old school bokeh(which I liked, similar to a Leica 50 3.5 elmar), I'll find something interesting to shoot tomorrow. My test shots weren't worth sharing. I got home from school one hour before it got dark so not much light.

Funny story I had to go pick up the lens at the post office because for some reason they put a hold on my mail without me requesting it. USPS always finds new ways to surprise me! (Was supposed to get it yesterday on my day off)

Thanks Mystik :)
Plus lightweight & moisture resistant, what's not to love.

MTF chart performance. I know, I know....doesn't always have bearing on real world results, which is why I picked you guys' brains.

Looks like a good lens to me!

Hmm Slickdeals . net has a Tamron deal in cooperation with Buydig $989 - $310 Slickdeals Rebate = $679. Shipping is free

679 in Sony A mount might be really good but I have not really paid attention to this lens how does it stack up to the 70-400 G2

never had a A mount tamron, but EF mount worked great with metabones, AF would hunt very very occasionally. But it was fast enough for eagles in flight.

Its sharp from 150-450ish, less sharp at 600mm... But a less sharp at 600mm is better then no picture at all, since 70-400 can't reach 600.

Interesting! New FF lens for emount. If this lens performs good it will be in a lot astro photogs bags as it is a perfect focal length and aperture for low light stuff

Thanks did some size comparisons and the tammy is a full pound plus on weight over the sony 70-400 and that 95mm front is huge.

Think I may just have to rent the 70-400 and spend that rental money to make sure it is what I want

And when I said Tammy would hunt very very occasionally not more often then it did on my 5DIII, so nothing to worry about.

Tammy was super light compared to my 150-600 siggy sport.

Just a thought, but if I could choose between Canon-mount and a-mount - I'd pick Canon-mount for re-sale purposes. Might be harder to find a-mount buyers.

The other night there was bright green aurora above my house but it was behind a layer of cloud. This was very far south and unexpected. I could see the green changing behind the clouds but couldnt actually see the aurora directly just the glow. I quickly headed out and drove to Loch Lomond in the hope of a break in the clouds but by the time I got there the green glow was gone and the cloud blanket was still there. I decided to take a photo since I was there. On the pier in this shot you can see other photographers when you zoom in who were there before I arrived, not sure if they caught any glimpses of the aurora or not. This was taken around 11:30PM with the samyang 24

That's a great image, Eddie. Who needs the aurora when you get shots like this? (I missed it too and only found out about it when I saw a photo on Flickr from a woman on Skye taken earlier in the evening.)

Got a dumb question: what do you call the hump that the hot shoe sits on? There a name for that? I'm putting the description of my a7R II sale ad on FM and I want to describe some tiny bit of paint wear at the edges of that humpty dumpty thingy.

I don't know about you all, but selling stuff is way more stressful than buying stuff.
