The ground attack version of the Mustang was designated as the A-36 and was more or less the original Mustang configuration with the Allison engine (rather than the more famous Rolls Royce Merlin engine).

These aircraft saw service in Italy and some in Asia and suffered relatively high losses.

Actually the RAF flew around 300 Mustang Mk I's, operated by some 10 squadrons. I suspect once the Merlin powered Mustang was developed, the production line simply didn't produce any more Allison powered Mustangs.

Australian CAC Mustang.
We only have 2 or 3 Mustangs in Australia.
