Exactly. The longest combination I can field is 70D+100-400L+1.4x (effectively 896mm). Having autofocus would be really nice. The 80D can do that, with 27 different AF points. Now I have to use MF, or LV. I need a tripod either way.

Persuasive arguments for the 80D. I'm curious if there's anything to the on-chip ADC rumours and whether such a sensor, if the implementation is as good as everyone hopes it is, would be available in an xxD body.

To wrap up this thread, I went with a 7D2. Thanks again for the suggestions.

Mandatory duck. Exported with LR5 defaults. No adjustments beyond that.
