Well worth the money. :):):)

I've been using Nik for years, it's a great package.

Not good if that means it's not being developed or updated anymore, if that's so, this is a disaster really...

This is awesome, I bought it a year or so ago just for Silver Efex and have been very happy with it. Great to see it will be free for new users.

As a longtime Nik Effects user, I think it has been pretty neglected by Google since day one. There have been a few updates, but no significant functionality has been added to the package that I've noticed. I am pleased that it has continued to work with my Adobe CC and Mac OS updates.

If this is the end (which I think this does signal), at least I've gotten my money's worth out of it. I don't use it much anymore. I'm using MacPhun and Topaz products mostly at the moment, and I'm playing around with Alienskin products.

Never used them before but they look interesting. Anyone know if all the plug-ins work with Lightroom (I don't have PS)?

Yes, at the bottom of the page linked to, in the 1st post of this thread ---- LR3 and up including CC, Win. and Mac.
There is also a small list of compatible GPUs listed there as well.

Sadly development stopped ages ago because Google want to focus on things like Photos+

Everybody thinks that this means that further support and development of the Nik products will not be done. However, it could be exactly the opposite; by giving away the current set Google increases the pool of potential up-graders and buyers for new versions, and if they feel that the market for the current version has been pretty well exhausted, it would be a good ploy. Others have done this in the not so far distant past - OnOne for instance.

When did OnOne do this? I know that they give free copies of new versions to recent purchasers of the previous version, but I do not recall them giving away the current version. Just curious.

I see this as the nail in the coffin. It hasn't seen any significant updates in a while. I have a feeling Google will shut it down in a year or so.
