Show us your setup and the final result!

Just for comparison here is my setup from the same show last year. I did put grids on the back/rim lights. And had the overhead umbrella collapsed. Moved the low umbrella just camera right on very low fill level.

Yeah just a clear vynl to get a reflection (though you can't see much of it in this shot). For some of the competitors it was their first time in "Show shoes" and the combination of vynl over carpet made it odd. Which was part of the reason I went with the white and more rigid flooring this year.

Thanks. How well does it hold up? Do heals mark it up? I like the idea of the roll over a 4X8 sheet of plexi

I remember using seamless paper over carpet and having models show in heals..... I never did that again .

Not sure. There was some puckering I guess, but nothing where I felt it was ruined and I didn't even notice it the next time I used it. I would think a quick blast of a heat gun would fix them if they were bad.

Did you intend to cut so close to their feet and heads? I would back up just a little and give it some room.

Shooting in a living room with a 70-200 on a 70d, backing up a little may not have been an option.

Then I'd increase the size of canvas in PS and clone to fill in, either way it's cropped too close.

Err yes and no. No and in the delivered photos it wasn't that tight, these were the versions on my phone for Instagram, so I was cropped them closer. Actually in the white one you can tell I just selected all of the background and filled with white (look between here shoes). That was also only for instagram so it would be seemless in a feed.

In both cases I was actually shooting through a doorway from the next room. (though the first lens was the 50 1.4).

For room that size, I normally pack the 70-200 & use 50 1.4 or 85. By the way, clear vinyl is a good idea as long as it stay flat after rolling out. I may give that a go. It's always a pain in the backside with acrylic sheet.

The vinyl on a non solid floor does have a unique look. I mostly liked it for a standing on the water effect. It worked for these shots. But sometimes I do straighten it in post.

are you mixing color temperatures? the side lights look a lot cooler than the key/fill.

Not intentionally. I see what you are talking about on Reed in the last shot. That shot was last year so before I had the 360, it's all hodge podge speedlights: two very different YNs (one with LCD one without) an old Vivitar, and somewhere is a Cannon 200E.

Could be the speed lights. Could be the modifiers, softboxes on the sides reflective umbrella as main. Could be an artifact of the spray tan/glazing that was rapidly applied to him recently.
