I somehow missed that Sony will finally release a cheap FE prime!

www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1242613-REG/sony_sel50f18f_fe_50mm_f_1_8_lens.html (external link)

Do you guys think it will stay at $250 for a while or will reduce to $200-230 after the initial release?

Still the price is very good. Now they just have to release a 35 and 85 in the same price point! Don't even care if they're 2.8, that's all I need.

Sony's prices have been holding very steady lately so not really sure.

If you're in the US and are ok with grey market, it seems the stronger makes for some nice grey market deals that pop up within a few months.

I dont even think I'm gonna wait , the price is too good. I love my Canon 1.8 STM and according to the specs this should be even better! Whoo, now I can be a broke college student and finally afford FE AF lenses :D

Very nice Vinz!

So I don't know if I need more practicing manually focus with my Loxia 21 or if I don't have a sharp copy. I'm underwhelmed by how soft my images are turning out even at f8 or f11. I was expecting much sharper especially using a tripod with IBIS off. I'll post a few samples shortly.

Only changes to this image are minor noise reduction, set camera calibration to camera standard in LR, and some contrast adjustment. No vibrance or saturation added. No sharpening added.

and here is the 100% crop from the upper right side. Looks a little mushy to me but so did the left side of the frame in the trees in the background.

This one was processed through my normal workflow with sharpening in PS CC

ya i would say theres something wrong there,i manual focus all the time,i only have one auto focus fe lens, did u use focus peaking?i used to use it but now i only rely on focus magnify,i trust that every time,on a tripod at f8 those leaves in ur image should be tack sharp, try focus magnify if u are not already,

Thank you for your feedback. I did use focus magnify at 12.5x with focus peaking set at high. Is that the highest magnification? It was a bit windy when I was shooting so the leaves moved. Still, the stone wall should be sharper. I'll keep testing.

Really bad for F8. So it was sharp when you use the focus magnify? What was your shutterspeed?
