I went from a 5D Mk II to a Nikon D610. So far I prefer the layout of the Canon, but I love the images I'm getting with the Nikon. In time I hope I'll get used to the D610 button layout. So far I only have a 50mm f1.8G and a 35mm f1.8 DX that I'm using in FX mode.

Apr 08, 2016 20:12 | #6895 Finally got a chance to use the Nikon 24-70 (albeit just inside Best Buy) on both a D810 and D610. I absolutely love the feel of the lens. I shot it at 35mm and 50mm at F2.8 and at F4, and then shot the 35mm F1.8G FX and the 50mm 1.8G at the same apertures, same settings, at the same subjects (a camera close to me, and a stand 20ft away). I think the zoom would be great for me, as I often feel like having too many lenses frustrates me as I can't use them all, and I feel like I am wasting them. So a great single purpose lens would do well for me. Interesting, I was a long time Canon user (Canon 6D and previously 5D III). I briefly tried the Sony A7R II and that wasn't for me, so since I already sold my Canon gear, I had to start over. Picked up the Nikon D750 and several lenses with no regrets so far. Sony A1, Viltrox 16mm f/1.8 FE, Sony 35mm f/1.4 GM, 24-70mm f2.8 GM II, 70-200mm F/2.8 GM OSS II, 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G OSS, 1.4X TC, Flashpoint flashes

I am a long time user of the D7000, my favorite camera I have ever used. I took so many of my favorite photos with that body, and learned so much. So the D600 was a natural progression, and I am absolutely loved it. However, Nikon does not have a great 135/2 (I am not interested in the DC) and I have been lusting after a super fast, long prime, and the 135L is often regarded as one of the best of all time. So I had to make the jump and try it out. So far I am left wanting, it needs serious shutter to stop motion blur, and shooting OCF at 1/160 I still seem to get a surprising number of slightly soft shots do to movement. ^^^The 135 L was my favorite Canon lens for portraits. You need to raise the ISO (the 6D has very low noise) to get the shutter speed to at least 1/320 or so and use HSS if you are using flash.
