Not very. He was on the railing on the boardwalk right in front of me, the birds at this place are not shy of people. They land on the railings and sometimes stay put when you approach them. Maybe 10-15 feet max. Sometimes with some lenses I have to back up when they do this!! The 100-400 is much better for close encounters than the Tamron or the 400 5.6 due to the better MFD.

Wakodahatchee Wetlands? If you care to say.

John

Green Cay ;-)a or the place in West Palm, Grassy Waters Preserve, I think it's called. The reason I asked was, because of not having been to Grassy Waters I thought maybe some of the shots you take came from there. I'm a little north of you around PSL.

I go to all three, live near Grassy Waters which has the least wildlife but the PLACE is the most photogenic, I think. Wako is a very active rookery now.

There are several others near here that are active, right now Peaceful Waters in Wellington has a lot of activity. There are some good spots up your way, too. The whole state I think is birdwatcher heaven....there are so many I haven't been to yet. My avatar photo was taken by a photo buddy at Viera Wetlands a few months ago.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I like the ones with the wildlife the most, but a good landscape is great also. I've been to quite a few places around here, as well as Vierra. Really like that one, but haven't been in a while. Vero has a nice wetlands at 95 and 60.
Any way, thanks again for the reply. Take it easy.

John

I thought I should mention that I've been invading your territory - spent two very good mornings at Wakodahatchee a bit more than a week ago. Not bad for a water treatment facility! I've been there in previous years too, and am planning to return, but can only manage this about once a year. You guys in Florida have it very nice with the birds.

Sony RX10 IV, Canon 7D2, Canon 90D, assorted Canon lenses
C&C always welcome.
