Awesome capture. I am still waiting for my first this Osprey this year.

Thanks! They have arrived in force here in the bay area. There are at least 6 nesting pairs where I shoot.

We have ospreys everywhere in Florida, but I don't have a shot that good!! I am going on a guided boat osprey trip in about ten days, maybe I'll get something near that one (or any of yours, really...)

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

Nice. We have 3 nest in 2 miles radius from my house and all empty I hope not for long.

Well good luck, I would love to get out on a boat to try and catch some fishing action! Actually I find of all the raptors, osprey seem to be the least concerned with humans, and I can get pretty close to their nests without them freaking out. They are all over an abounded navy base here (Mare Island for any Navy Vets) and nest right next to all kinds of human activity. That coupled with their size and relative slow speed flying I have pretty good luck with them compared to say the white tailed-kites, which are small and fast and tend to spook easily.

I think that is the same experience as in Florida. They are fairly common and seem to live near humans quite well. I see them everywhere. On the West Coast of Florida they nest in all the waterways where boats go by all day long,in the middle of the intracoastal waterways on top of the warning signs- they nest VERY close to human boating activity freely. I have photos but they are pre 7D2 so I can't put them on this thread. There are probably thousands of them on the internet though.

EDIT- I put one from last year on the "show me your best "are you looking at me" thread. https://photography-on-the.net …ead.php?t=111983&page=466

Great work Peter. Love the dynamic range, colors and details. All are first rate. Found an egret in the air and way up high yesterday.

Hope you like them.
