Nice shot. They are so tall and kind of ungainly looking.

We have them up here in the north too.

I have been seeing a ton of them lately in several locations. They are hard to get close enough to and very skittish at the usual wetlands locations. I was on some private wetlands water this afternoon with a friend and we approached this one (of a pair) in a boat slowly and were able to get closer than I've ever been able to when I've been on shore trying to approach them when they are in the water. The reverse worked well for me this afternoon......I think they are the coolest little guys and I never get tired of seeing them.

After going walkabout yesterday for a few hours and not really getting any pics. I got back to the truck, put the camera away , turned around and this little fella gave me a surprise. Went back today with the tripod , but he didn't show. Next time.

The pic is ok. You could have been a bit closer and maybe used a sharper lens. ;-)a:-P

Thanks Tony, I was so excited to actually get a bird I didn't notice the vertical edges on the right side of first image.
I drifted too far right and caught the edge of the peep hole. Now that I noticed it drives me crazy.
