Where does your 16-35L come into play?

Apparently my reply was lost in transmission weeks ago.

My 16-35 F4 does not come into play. I used it when I traveled home for Christmas.
And F4 was just not fast enough indoors. The interior walls and everything was in focus.

I reached for my 24L at f2.0 and stepped back, rather than using my 16-35mm
It is a great lens. But I prefer my shallow dof. The lens was left with my father in America and it's awaiting a new home. :)

Some good shots in here!

I'm thinking about getting this over all the variants of the 16-35.

I had completely overlooked this as an option, but seeing the low light ability with 1.4, I've virtually made my mind up.

The zooms just didn't excite me, and I was only buying an UWA as a lens to go to Thailand with, fully expecting to sell the zoom upon my return. After finding this, I'm excited, and will probably keep it!

100% - I always recommend the 24mm for travel. Although I really do love my 16-35IS for landscapes and random UWA shoots, the 24mm has remained a hard and fast part of my travel lineup for several years now. It's the perfect wide angle for practically any environmental scene and the 1.4 separation can't be beat for detail shots.

Full disclosure - I swapped my 24/II for a 24-70/II about a year ago. After two long trips with the 24-70, I realized the zoom just doesn't work for me and planned to go back to the 24 prime. I picked up a Sigma 24mm Art to try out before grabbing another copy of the 24/II and ended up really loving the Sigma version. For me, I couldn't find a reason to drop the extra $300-400 for the Canon version again.

I bought my copy over two years ago before the Sigma lens existed, and I owned a T4i.
Still have the same lens on my 6D and it is still my most used lens outside and indoors.
It isn't going anywhere. :) Buy one and enjoy it.
