Is it worth getting this vs a 16-35 ii? Two completely separate things, but some people seem to not care for this lens. How does everyone else feel?

This is the single best lens most people can buy in the Canon system IMO.

It is a great lens. For me the issue is the focus length is in the territory of my favorite primes (50mm f1.2 and 85mm f1.2) It was one of the last lenses I bought. It works well for sports, news and location shoots. I am yet to use it in studio but it is good enough for in studio.

I love my 16 to 36mm for street and any urban shooting. It is on my camera more than my 24 to 70.

I got to get me one of those 16-36mm's...mine stops short at 16-35mm. :p I agree about preferring the FL range of 16-35mm. I keep seeing rumors of a new 16-35mm f/2.8L III...if they can make it as amazing as the 24-70L II I will have to get one.

OOOPS Did I not mention I am beta testing the MKiii lens? It goes to 36mm (or it was a typo, you decide, but I will check canon rumors later today)

I was using it as a "walk-around" lens when I happened upon a sidewalk BBQ in Cambridge Massachusetts.
