What do your business cards look like?

I wanted to get some of the plastic/transparent cards but no way I am gonna pay the price they want for them.

Haven't ordered the business cards but was actually looking for large prints and they turned out amazing, especially for the price. Might order a set once I get my cards designed.

My roommate does graphic design and made these for me. I like the way they came out.

Does no one use Overnight anymore? Vista has always been known for low quality and that's why I switch to Overnight which are amazing for Vista prices. Haven't had Moo but for the price I don't get their worth. Also, I see I'm spending on the packaging as well.

Have you compared all three of the company's product in hand?

I continue to insist on proving to myself, "you get what you pay for."

I thought I'd try a cool design with selective UV from either Overnight or Vista and when I got them back they went straight in the garbage. The UV was mis-aligned and looked like it had spattered on the non-print areas. Trying to get it fixed wasn't worth my time.

How many cards do you go through in a year?

I ended up with Bananaprint and think they look great will be making some changes as i don't think i designed them well enough to fill the card. But that was my own fault. Not the best quality photo but it looks better in person:

Made my own, used my kids as subjects.

Pretty happy with them, might change a thing or two.
While I know they are very typical real estate related appearance, it works...

Raised Print/Spot Glass for Texture.... Rest of card is matt.

Similar feeling here. The guy who did the back window of my van used a similar style on a new card for me. It look good on the van. But with more writing, the river image got lost as miniature on the card and the text cluttered it. Been thinking of a simple stock design from Moo or Vista print that simply conveys photography. Not even sure if I want one photo on the design, because one photo may narrow the context too much.

This quote was in reply to someone saying that a recipient of a card (Vistaprint) would not know where it's printed. The context was also people understanding or knowing quality.

Although it's from Arborist work, I learned years ago, that people who can sense quality, generally get the sense from reading us. That's why about 20 yrs. ago, I quit carrying before and after photos of my landscape design work and changes. I've been in business doing tree care and landscape design since 1980. And eventually I found that people were reading what I said, how I acted, and my own confidence. They did comment on certain cards if they liked the look or picture, but regardless, I became the business card. No matter what card I gave them, it became in essence "the napkin".

What happened?

Well, what has happened is that people no longer ask for business cards. . At least the people I meet don't ask for them.

When I meet someone who is interested in my work, instead of asking for a business card, they pull out their phone and ask me for my website address, or my Facebook account, or Instagram account, or phone number. . Then right then and there they spend a half minute typing letters or numbers into their phone, pull up one of my online pages, click "follow" or "friend" or enter me into their contacts, and then they have the info they waned. . Hence, business cards are pretty much a thing of the past, because no one seems to have any interest in them any more.

Why carry a card around when you can punch the info right into your phone?
