Finally becoming friends with this Fuji 23mm. Never really used the 35mm equivalent focal length a lot, but it is just such a crazy good piece of glass <3

With the sun behind, did you use flash? If so, beautifully balanced.

You're using it very well as far as I can tell!

I just picked up an 85mm prime, and now considering a ~35mm so I can get rid of the 24-70 2.8...hmm

Thanks!

Nope, no flash, and also no reflection screen. Those little Fujis have a pretty good dynamic range, and I also don't really care if the sky is blown out in shots like these

Understood, but wouldn't that choice be a faux pas on the model's part? Not saying that the bottom of shoes are normally visible on the street, but they are certainly quite visible with a walking model on an elevated platform, and with multiple photographers firing away from that same angle she must know it would show in the final product. I know nothing of your business and my question is only out of curiosity, would this photo get tossed out from publication? Sounds trivial on the surface (no pun intended), but in a business where extreme attention to detail rules the day it seems like it would be a factor.

DM... Great follow up question/comment... I could only reply based on my speculation regarding the use of the used sandals... Whether it's the discretion of the stylist or the model, I can see some concern with showing the dirtiness of the sole... It is what it is... And I personally wouldn't think this image would be tossed out for publication use (print or social media)... The photo editor would probably have the last say in the matter... And if he/she wanted to, I'm sure they can photoshop the sole to give it a cleaner look...

With that said, I do have a few more captures of her on the runway without showing the sole... And being on the bottom tier of a 3-tier media platform, I'm more exposed to 'dirty shoe sole' visibility than the photographers who are above me... It was just my angle and perspective... If you have anymore C&C's, please feel free to ask me on this thread or send me a PM!!!

:)

Certainly no criticism intended, it's a great shot. My question was only a curiosity of the inner workings of the editorial process. I have to admit I was quite surprised that the model could wear used shoes in an industry that examines everything with a microscope. Thanks for the response, quite interesting!

I like it with the exception of the blurred bit in the bottom right. I just find it very distracting!

Beautiful image otherwise :D

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.
