Almost looks like a skull in the center of the clouds. Nice capture.

Ha ha, I had not noticed that. Thanks

A shot from this time last year. There was lots of rumbling as it passed over...but little rain.

Clouds and sunshine. I'm not good at PPing clouds, but the shots in this thread really make me want to practice!

One thing, of concern to me, is the unproportional enhancement of many cloudy skys here that don't go well along with the remaing foreground. Well thread is "Cloud" but don't forget the synergistic effect of remaining picture elements.

Taken on May 20, 2012 during a solar eclipse. I found a good spot (or so I thought) and set up my tripod. Only problem was, this giant cloud formed over the mountains right in the spot where the eclipse was occurring. It was too late to drive to another spot. I was totally bummed out about this.

That would be very disappointing. It is a nice picture of the clouds and the mountain anyway :-)

Welcome to POTN!

It was very disappointing. I had planned where to take my shots for awhile and could not believe where that cloud set up. I would have had to drive maybe 40 miles to see it and there wasn't time. The eclipse is occurring behind the clouds.

I have lurked here for years, but not posted much. I like the "like" button so I can at least show support for so many of the pictures.

I hear your pain. I have been planning for next year's total eclipse for a year now, just hoping to not have the same issues.

Very best,

Assuming UFO portion part of cloud is what you are calling as interesting and that is Lenticular variant clouds that is of course mixed with Cirrocumulus clouds, that comprise the bulk of event here.
Only surprising part is that the Lenticular clouds are formed when there is heavy current near a mountain and doubt you have any mountain here.
