After a couple of years of moderate use my PC-(Windows 10) computer suddenly does not recognize one of my SanDisk 32CF cards. I have used it exclusively only with my Canon 7D.
The card had a few pictures on it that, luckily, are not very important. After the computer rejection of the card, I put it back in the camera and it appears normal with the photos intact. I added a couple of test shots and the tried do read it again with the computer via one of the slots. Rejected again.
I transferred the card back to the camera and formatted the card with the camera. (MY standard practice is to format withe the camera. I never erase.) I then took a couple of test shots with the same result back in the computer.
I then tried the computer quick format with no result. To summarize: Good in Camera / Bad in computer.
I tried to format but it it went on and on with finishing.
Questions: what would cause this problem?
Is full formatting a olution?
Note: I live in Brazil and although CF cards are available they are quite costly. I prefer card purchased direct in the US or Europe when I or one of my friends makes an occasional trip. With the logistics and cost involved I do not casually throw things away if they can be saved.
