Just got mine delivered. Probably among the first few in India. Though I didn't get much time to test it tonight, I did fire few quick fire shots (of what I could find baring angry wife and screaming kid).

I do see myself using up to 25600 pretty frequently now. 51200 seems decent and usable after a bit of processing. I didn't test beyond that as of now. Tomorrow may be. :)

12800 / 25600 / 51200 jpgs (with default RAW -> JPG conversion. I guess noise reduction at 14 points). RAW files uploaded as well.

And we have a winner! First POTN member to receive one!!

Thanks for uploading some pics for us...I can't wait to check them out tonight.

Cheers!

Very impressed. Properly exposed 51k looks good as well.

thanks for these links

when you zoom in at 4:1 on the 12,8 and 25,6 you can see a huge difference in noise

that said, 40 sharpening, 40 Masking, 20 Luminance NR in LR and there is basically no difference of the 25,6k ISO and 12,800

with 'only' 20 megapixels, unlike the 5DSR's 50, you have to use less NR with 1DX II files, and I think 20 - 25 Luminance NR at 25,600 ISO, after playing with it a bunch, seems to be the sweet spot, of that tradeoff - file looks fine at 1:1 and therefore will make a good print - anything higher ISO I don't think will stand up for large prints, if you are very anal, but for Social Media you should be able to use 50 or 100k - for gritty B&W pictures, you can easily use 51,2K ISO

here you go

12,800 ISO 1:1 center frame crop NO Luminance NR

25,600 ISO 1:1 center frame crop with NR (40 Sharpening, 40 Masking, 20 Luminance NR)

51,200 ISO 1:1 center frame crop with NR (40 Sharpening, 50 Masking, 40 Luminance NR)

- i didn't do any other work on the file except what is listed here
- after posting this, I played with the individual colour saturations and luminances, and you can play enough with the 51,200 file and almost get it to look like the 12,800 file for small sized prints and therefore for most uses, you can use this camera in Auto ISO upto 50k
- the caviat is the incamera jpegs use too much NR smoothing for high ISO files so much better to do it yourself in RAW

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

So a guy in the Philippines received his 1DX2 on Monday and a POTN member in India received his today (on a Wednesday). It's a bummer that those of us in the United States have to wait an additional 7 days! I'm not sure why Canon doesn't launch it worldwide on one set day...

Just put my order in today! Finally. I'm pretty far down on the list, of course, but here's to hoping Adorama gets a lot in next week. I'm aware of my chances, but as long as I can secure one somewhere before June I'm good. Here's hoping.

Aehric you never know. I mentioned this prior in this thread but somewhere I read Canon produced enough for all pre-orders so maybe they made extra-keep your fingers crossed.

aehirc,

If Adorama is unable to fulfill your order during the first 2 weeks or so, then another good option is to start calling some of the smaller retailers in other states and see if they have any in-stock. For example, Allen's Camera was mentioned earlier in this thread and there are a few dozen others one out there too. You'll be paying the same with no tax (provided you buy out of state) and sometimes these brick-n-mortar stores can have things in stock that the big internet retailers do not.

Cheers,
Bryan

Thanks. I really, really hope so. I know I'm cutting it close ordering this late. But it was the earliest I could due to a financial setback a month ago. I've been following every bit of news about the camera since well before February when it was officially announced. Owning a 1 Series body has been a dream of mine for nearly the last nine years. This January I finally made up my mind I was going to save up and get this one. So I did from zero. It's absolutely perfect for the work I make a living doing with photography and video, neither of which involve sports or wildlife oddly enough. I'm buying this camera with nothing but income from my business and reinvesting back into it through the purchase. (Also great for the taxes if you know what I mean) Not to mention that pesky dream fulfillment.

At the end of the day I'm gambling I can get one before the first week of June because I've been hired to shoot a huge rally in Washington DC that only happens every 4 years. I would LOVE to put the Mark II through it's paces there.

You guys will be the first to know when I manage to get my hands on one. Even though the luster of "Hey! I got my new camera!" will have worn off by then it will mean the world to me. :-)

Absolutely. I've got multiple contingencies planned if I am not lucky on this go around with Adorama. If I have to pay tax somewhere else, oh well, I'll pay tax. I'd just prefer to roll that savings into a spare battery and another Cfast 2.0 card instead if I can.

You have mentioned this before.

I hate to be a naysayer and, to be honest, I really hope you're right... but Canon has never once done this before with new models. I waited forever for my 5D2 and my 1Dx, ordered only a few hours after introduction, was in B&H's 3rd or 4th shipment, weeks after the first ones went out.

If you think about it, they'd be silly to build and warehouse that many cameras before starting to collect money on them.

I believe that they have gotten the assembly lines rolling and that they are producing cameras in volume... I also believe that they will be well under pre-order numbers for the next month or three.

I ordered a spare battery with my pre-order and I hope it comes in with or near the camera.

I also ordered the Pelican Air with TrekPak which is slated to start shipping on May 1...

The cFast card... I'm gonna wait until I figure out what I really need and until the prices drop just a bit.

Yep. Like I said, I hold no illusions to my chances. I'm still going to try though. What's the harm in trying. ;-)a
