DIY flash softbox

Did this on a lazy Sunday afternoon... Flash softbox. Using sturdy board, masking tape, aluminum foil, electrical tape, and flat black spray paint. Nice fit on the flash head... can be removed by sliding it out.

Went to Jo-ann's and bought a nice nylon cloth for use as the diffuser (not shown in pic).

Test shots... non-scientific.

I think I will make a bigger softbox... this one is on the small side and the effect is not too noticeable.

I'm getting red X's where the sample shots should be.

One thing that might help is to pull out the wide panel on the flash unit to fill the whole softbox. Its effect will be more pronounced at close distances.

E-TTL should account for the light loss. Keep an eye on your flash exposure confirmation light after each shot. If it doesn't light up, you'll need to increase ISO, open up the lens or get closer.
