Hello everyone,

Has anyone ever traveled by taking Lowepro Pro Runner 450 aw in an aircraft cabin? It looks big to me to fit it in overhead storage bin or under the front seat. Not sure if it will fit. Please share your experiences of taking this bag in the cabin of airplane. That would help me and others owning this bag a lot.

Thanks

Same Question as you, so I am subscribing to this thread now. I have owned this bag for over a year now and love it, but never flew with it before. I am flying to Peru in less than a month, and need to know if it will fit under the seat aswell. I do not want to get on the plane and end up with it on my lap the whole flight. Lowepro does claim it meets all airline requirements for a carry on, and it also is basically the same exact dimensions as Think Tanks Airport International (which I know lots of people have taken on international flights with zero problems). The Lowepro version is actually slightly smaller on the Height & Width side, but 3.5 inches thicker on Depth (so possibley could be too fat to go under a seat, as 3.5 inches could be the difference between fitting & not)........If I choose to take my Fastpack 350 instead, I know that will definitley fit from previous experiences, but will have to leave much gear at home.

They won't take off unless it's stowed away

I have the x450 - very similar but with wheels/handle
It's been in small and big planes... I was able to wheel it to the small plane, but then it had to receive "valet storage" (i.e. it went below as I boarded, and it was coming out when i came out) - it wouldn't have fit under any seats or overhead in that airplane - I don't really know my planes, but it was props and we were seated below the wings
On the bigger plane - I boarded early, and did put it in the overhead and closed... but I didn't leave it there... loaded that bag is heavy, and didn't want to deal with taking it down when there's a ton of people around, so i took it down, and put it under the seat in front of me... it was a tight fit, but it fit - I also didn't have anything in the front flap - would a laptop have been in there, it wouldn't have fit under

it's a big bag.... it gets a second look when you want to bring it to the cabin with you, but most of the time, it will be fine (carry some extra $$ to bribe your way in, especially if you're coming out of Antigua)

Thanks dude. That information is really a big help. Now, I got the courage to take it into cabin :)

Nice review, great photo showing what it can hold but in reality isn't that way to heavy to carry around especially if you add a tripod to it?

Looking into this bag too.
Currently I've got the Computrekker AW II, but it's allways a compromise if i want to fit the gear I need (1D, 300 f2,8 - 70-200 - 24-70 - 17-40, flash, extenders, batteries, laptop ...). I'd just like to be 100 % sure the 450 really can be used as carry on. I'll be flying a lot in the next few weeks (in Europe and to the US)and don't want to hear it's too big for carry on and has to be checked in ...

Thank you! and Thank you for reviewing the bag. I was researching today and look at this bag and seems to fit what I need, after reading it. I'm going to get it. :)

Bought it. Flight from Brussels to Barcelona tomorrow, let's hope they'll let me carry it as hand luggage.

I have one that I use exclusively for home storage of gear, holds a lot of gear.Just bought a Pelican for that task, so I have it up for sale in the FS section. Like new, if anyone is looking for one.

I've got through a lot of airports with mine, the problem is if one over packs it and it bulges out...something that can happen when travelling with a large laptop and lots of stuff in the big pocket thing. This bag does look a lot bigger than it really is....where as the new Jura gear and and older Tamrac bags, they always looked smaller for some reason.

In my opinion, one of the best bags out there for people that want to take their whole gear with them! Compares with the think tank harddrive, but this is totally better and a bit cheaper.

PS: read my signature. I just had to get it lol. Better to be prepared.

Have one size down of this bag (400AW I think) and it's great, wish mine had the side carry handle like this 450aw does though.
