Hey everyone, this is my first post. I shot a few shots of my brothers Syclone and I played with it in Photoshop. Would like some criticism on the shots as I am not a pro at Photoshop or photography yet.

I appreciate any critique and criticism. Also, I'm working on a laptop and it has not been calibrated. I am concerned how it looks on other screens.

I cleaned the car's reflections and light poles everywhere.
I sharpened using the unsharp mask filter.
Adjusted brightness and contrast, then adjusted levels.
I added the cloud background.
I then added a hue and saturation adjustment and lowered the saturation since the clouds were extremely blue.

Before and After

Its not a great photo to start off with, the photoshop stuff you did was fine, but the picture to start off with is just a snapshot. Its okay, but nothing special.

The biggest thing in photography is good light, you need to get that Truck in some good lighting. Whether you do it artificially or even easier just move the truck to better light or wait for a different time of day.

Its in very harsh lighting and the front is entirely in shadow so all the detail cant be scene.

Thats a somewhat rare truck so its deffinately a great subject.

Sweet, thanks for the response. I will work on framing and lighting. I don't have any lighting equipment or anything, so I am trying to get it out on an day with overcast clouds. Today is so I am going to try and get him out today. I want to try some night shots with it, cause normally I do shoot at night since most of our drag racing events are at night. I am going to try and go out tonight to get some photos of it.

It is a fairly rare truck, he told me it's only one of 3 in the state of Utah (don't know how accurate that is). But, of course he had to go get a car that's faster than mine, since I got one faster than his first car. ;-)a

I did get a couple rolling shots since he was racing it. This one was my favorite, I didn't do as much Photoshop though. I just sharpened it, adjusted brightness and contrast, and adjusted the levels.

That race shot is good as a snap shot, but its sooo awesome from the 90s dual thats happening.

You were given good advise, mid lighting sucks. morning and evenings is where its at. Keep at it and stick around, I love these trucks. being one of 3 might be fairly close, there arent many out there these days now.

Okay, awesome. I'm almost always at the drag events here and occasionally at the road racing and autocross events, depending on work and school schedule. I'll work on it and find my style.

The dual was awesome, I'm glad that I got that one cause the other cars he raced were newer or trucks. I also know the guy in the Camaro and I need to talk to him to see if I could get some photos of his car to practice.

Thanks for you input, I appreciate it.

Yes, I almost always shoot in RAW unless memory space forces me to use JPEGs.

You should be able to recover a lot more of those blacks then.

Really? I haven't played with the RAW format much unless my white balance is off, I'll look into that and see what I can do.

Thanks for the info.

Very cool. Those are indeed rare. I've always thought those are neat. Nice work with the reflections too.
