Even the mild-mannered Night Heron gets loud and feisty at nesting time. Competition gets pretty fierce.

How sweet it is! Some fine shots Steve. Always love to see interactive shots and mating time is such a great time to do it.

Great shots, as always, Steve. I especially like the pose in the first one.

I can't understand how you guys get shots like this. Where the heck are you to get them, and so close, too? Looks like you had to be up in a tree.

Fantastic shots, though. I'd want to hang them all up!

Very nice series in what looks like harsh light. You captured the colours and behaviour well, TFS

Great work as usual. I've never seen the on a nest, so the last two are the most interesting to me.

Thank you Ron. Here on the coast there are pretty decent opportunities in the spring. Some locations are great for vantage points and other not so much. I've yet to climb a tree with my gear but if it means getting the shot I'm up for it. :)

Thanks Robert. I rarely print images myself, I don't have any hanging at home. I'm starting to go through and select my favorites for print now.

Thanks you. The light was less than ideal but around the swamps here it's either complete shade or brighter light breaking through that's harsher than I'd like.
