I was going for that look, but then I had her tilt her head and the style changed.
I think you're right that it should be higher for this shot.

If everything else were the same I would just try positioning the light source a little higher.

While I generally agree with the critiques, don't entirely abandon the technique you attempted. It has a quality akin to table candlelight, which has creative potential. Experiment with head positioning, framing, etc.
