Didn't know pilots are usin dash-cams :p

Great idea, did you set it up especially when you were expecting meteors? Did you select 5s exposure manually?

What is the urban area lighting up the clouds?

A lot of questions I'm afraid, but it's such an interesting shot.

Yes, I usually try a few different settings until I find what works.
It mostly depends on how smooth the air is. I have shot timelapses with up to 20s exposures but it is extremely rare to get sharp images out if it.
We were flying right over central Italy, Northbound.
The city in the bottom right side of the image is Florence. Pisa can also be seen in the hole in the clouds with the coastline, slightly left and below the centre of the frame. Straight ahead is the Geona area (middle of the image).

Here's the link to the timelapse: https://youtu.be/NLEJfn7Vml4 (external link) (you can see Rome on the left side, at the beginning of the video)
Unfortunately, it doesn't look that good with the turns and step descent.

Thanks for the details!

The video looks good

Well, that's what flying involves.

Maybe more pictures per minute for a short distance flight would be cool if ML supports that.

Alcatraz from above. Helicopter flight - unfortunately reflection in the window could not be avoided.

They state the letter 'I' is 12 1/2 feet wide, which means every letter is that large! Very Impressive indeed :-)
