Marc Marquez dominated the entire weekend & went home with his 4th straight win at COTA!

Here are some of my #93 photos

I have never been able to get that "heat" effect around the riders (pic 1 and 2). I assume its because I am a miserable failure as a photographer :-D Is that done in PP?

Also at panning shot (pic 3) is awesome - 1/125 plus being in a good location seems to be the key.

the "heat" is natural, it's exhaust fumes & heat from the tracks surface...my post work consists of correcting white balance if need be & adding some contrast & saturation

Marquez certainly seems to own this track, Dovi must feel like he has a target on his bike.

Thinking next year they may want to tell Marquez that the race is in Dallas. That may be the only way to keep him from winning at COTA.

I see you are using the Sigma 150-600. I have the 150-500 but haven't gotten anything like that (yet). I think its position and proximity that are my enemies here - not close enough and I'm normally shooting from side or front 3/4. Rarely an I somewhere that I can get straight on and be close enough. I tend to shoot from my seats (1/2 way up turn 15 corner grandstand) or wandering around the east side between turns 3 and 9.

yes, i rented the sigma 150-600 sport for the weekend...it performed quite well with very few issues, if any at all that i can remember...focusing seemed snappy, images are sharp, etc...i think the zoom resistance is a but tight, but im sure that gets better after using it

it has a lot to do with perspective & angle...and choosing the right AF settings with good technique...but of course, being on the inside of the fence sure helps...and during MotoGP races, photographers are allowed to shoot from between the catch fence & crash barrier, so we get even a few more feet closer & have an open view to our subject without an obstacles
