Final one from last night. Samyang 24 f/1.4. The light on the right is the setting moon. The light on the left is light pollution from a distant city.

Wow that is just awesome!!!

Not OP, but I think he's mentioned previous that he does this by compositing an OOF image with the in-focus one.

That is correct :) about 10 photos go in to creating it, for a smooth transition between focus.

:)

Mikey, when you shoot astro with your 24mm, do you shoot it wide open or stopped down? I had the Rokinon 14mm which was sharp but it vignettes heavily wide open at f/2.8 so was wondering if you stopped down a bit.

I have read his posts several times saying he uses f/3.4 and ISO is 10000 stop it down some and observe the 500 rule.

Ah okay. Trying to fix the vignetting was such a pain. LR wouldn't push as much so ended up using Capture One to push out the darkened corners further.

I always stop down :) ƒ3.5 on the 24mm and ƒ4 on the 14mm :)

Here's one from our recent trip, we co-hosted a Photography workshop down the East Coast then had a small roadtrip afterwards, was quite rewarding :)

Woohoo - I can finally contribute to this thread as the lens turned up last week.

And as luck would have it, the auroras came out to play this weekend so here are a couple of my first shots with this lens - we're going to have fun together.

Even back home, very close to streetlights, the auroras were getting stronger and brighter.

Love this lens for night photos. Made good use of it on a recent trip to Iceland.
