I recently purchased an A 7 ii and a FR 55 1.8. I found the photos, links, and discussion in this thread extremely helpful. Thanks to those who shared their experience. The FE 28 will be my next purchase!

hi there!
in my opinion it's nice. I try to go up to 2.2 or 2.5 but all in all it's not bad. Did this last weekend:

the Sony FE 28mm f/2 is a fine lens and a great bargain at its price point.

anyone tried the 28 with the fisheye converter? or the ultrawide converter?

Hows the picture quality? is the camera/lens smart enough to know when the converter is attached to save the correct exif?

I have the ultra wide converter and find it works vert well. The picture quality is nearly as good as the 28mm, which is impressive given your just adding glass to the front. Even wide open, which is f/2.8 is sharp in the centre and softens up in the corners, but performs well once you stop down. I will say that the converters are actually quite heavy and can make it all feel a bit front heavy, but given how relatively cheap they are, this is nit picking! As you'll see below, when you attached a converter it's like changing lenses, the exif data and maximum aperture is altered accordingly:

thats very interesting, makes me wonder how does it work, are there some sort of contact pins? that converter triggers so the camera knows?

Yep, there's a metal strip on the converter that interacts with something on the front of 28mm. It works seamlessly, like I said before, it's just like changing lenses.

B&H Came through! The lens arrived this morning and wow is it small! It almost reminds me of the Fuji 35 1.4 (but not as chubby or noisy). Origionally I got the Sony Kit lens which is actually pretty decent in it's own right. But after test driving the 28mm It makes me realize how much I missed using prime lenses :D

Taken with the Samyang 135
