I dont know why moving to the zoom seems so hard to me. I dont shoot portraits its landscape, architecture and wildlife so not sure why I have hang ups about selling the primes for the 24-70GM but for some reason I want that fast lens in the bag for that "one time"

I second that. I have never done a single portrait session, but even when I was with Canon, the 85mm's were always calling my name. 24-70 would be better for my actual needs but the price is far beyond what I'm able to put out on a single lens. I dont think you can go wrong with either of those bad boys.

i get that the 24-70 is large and heavy.
But I'm definitely getting it. To me, and the way I operate, it still going to save me weight and space.
I'm a sucker who insists on bringing more lenses than I should on every outing, just in case.
What that's translated to, with primes, is that I often lug more weight around, even though individual lenses may be smaller and lighter.
My plan is to replace a large number of lenses with this 24-70, which is how I can rationalize the cost.
This zoom has enough speed too to make some of my faster primes redundant.
For example, while I had the FE 24-70/4 and EF 16-35/4 on the Yosemite trip, I still lugged around the sigma 35/1.4 just in case I needed faster aperture. I also has the 55/1.8.
I also lugged around the CV 15 and the 70-200/4.

Point being, with the 24-70/2.8, I can sell the sigma and the 55. And won't need a 24 or 25 prime. So the weight ends up being less.

At least that's my thinking right now.

That's my thing as well. I actually see myself with the 24-70, the 55. That covers 85% of my shooting. I shoot with a 24-70 so often that I would bear the extra weight of the 2.8 over the 4, since it's my lens I use about 70% of the time. Then maybe add the 85 Batis (portraits) and 70-300 (shooting at the zoo) for the remaining 15%. I don't see ever getting the 70-200 2.8 and I'm not a UWA shooter, the 24 is as wide as I'll go most of the time. I had the old Rokinon 14 2.8 (the huge one) and used it for exactly 8 shots before I realized it was way too wide for me. It ended up just weighing down a bag.

A bag of the 24-70 2.8 and the 55 would be carried the majority of the time with the 85/70-300 only being used when needed. If I wanted to travel light just carry the 55 or pickup the cheap 35 2.8. I'm already planning a return to the a7rII, just need to unload some gear and a ton of bags first. My wife is forbidding any new gear unless I get rid of about 5-6 bags (I went on a binge buying backpacks for a while). She's made me commit to one shoulder bag and one backpack.

Is there anyone who own or used the FE28-70? how is it at f5.6?

For parties/receptions i used flash anyway around F5.6. I also hate to accidentally shoot a group photos at 24mm because of distortion.

It's an underrated lens I like it but don't like the f range mine is very sharp at 5.6 through the spectrum to 60 but not much fall to 70 ...It's for sale though never did use it for walk around

it's good all the way to 70, there's a considerable dropoff at that FL.

I rekindled my love for the a7S a bit this weekend (seems like I do that often  ). I shot with both it and my X-E2, but the colors were easier to work with/better looking SOOC from the a7S than they were from the Fuji... which is usually the opposite, granted, I don't shoot cars very often.

Second one. The first one is a bit too busy with all the branches in the foreground.

The lens was actually very usable wide open, the issue I had with it was that it would back focus A LOT at all focal ranges. Drove me nuts.

Plus side is they go for cheap on the used maket, I sold mine for $180 just to get rid of it.
