Agreed. It is my magic combo too.

Lately I have been using the 6D and Tamron 150-600 combo and it is also impressive, surprisingly so. Much better than that same lens on the 7D2.

Interesting...why do you think the lens is better on 6d instead of 7dMk2?...Reason I ask is I was looking at this lens also for myself on a 5DSR and seeing as the 7dMk2 and 5DSR are similar cameras( apart from FFvs Cropped) any issue on a 7DMk2 may also be on the 5dsr

It is just an impression I have, not based on any tests or side to side comparisons. The Tamron thread has some other folks who report the same thing. It just seems to me that when I use the lens on the 6D the photos are better quality at the higher end of the lens range. At lower end (up to say, 400mm or so), it seems that it works well on either body. I think some of it may have to do with the fact that I like the rendering of the 6D sensor. And it is, as I said, subjective and not a statement of fact or anything like that.

I have no idea why this would be.

I was imaging Puffins several days ago and this Gull lands less than 6-8 feet from me, what to do except oblige with a portrait-

I have experienced the same with my tamzilla. It is better on my 7D. I think this website's reading of the equipment data maybe the key. It shows that the Tamron reports as the Canon 90-400 or 300 lens. The 7DII has an advanced cpu that is programmed to deal with the vagaries of all of Canon's lenses as Canon sees it and applies the adjustments to make the lens perform the best with the camera in Canon's eyes.
