First time bringing the Canon 50mm 1.8 STM at night, a couple weeks into trying to wrap my head around learning Photoshop so would love any constructive criticism.

Overall, it looks OK. I'd prefer that her head wasn't dead center & with a sign pole growing out of it. Her face looks a bit on the Y/G side & could be a little softer. Maybe back off on the sharpening or contrast just a touch if you used both.

learn to use the focus/recompose method or move your focus points around for better composition. And her expression could be better. Other than that it's a great photo.

I'm no expert but the quality of the photo is great to me viewing on my laptop. Composition could be better though. Too much room at the top and she's right in the middle of the photo. Still a good photo.

Editing wise, looks green to me, but I'm not looking at it on a great monitor.

Composition wise:
1. Pay attention to where the light is coming from and how it falls on your subject. I would have stood by the window and have her face me/the stores. The light caused a hard shadow on her face that isn't flattering, especially with her head tilted slightly down and her being perpendicular to the light source.
2. With practice you'll start to instinctively look at your background because it might not be the subject, but it is part of the photo. I don't have much issue with how it is here because of the nature of where you are, but the sign on the right of here is a bit too close (because it is white if draws your eye to it). One step to your right would have changed that.

Keep shooting and experimenting! The fun AND frustration is worth it :)

I really appreciate everyone's feedback, I agree with a lot of what was brought up, especially composition wise. We were both walking and I was putting so much effort into trying to get her in focus correctly while moving, I wasn't even paying attention to the background and where she was within the frame. Great to have other people's eyes on it to spot things I may have missed.
