I actually use his tupperware diffuser and it has been a great help in covering events where action folds around you at random - I've read some snotty wedding photographer citing his photograph as an example of why GF diffuser is a POS according to him and how he "ingeniously" bounced the light off the wall to attain the shot he wanted, but try that in the middle of a dance floor with nothing to bounce the flash off and there is no luxury of space or time to tote along slave assistant with a giant reflector and set up the shot amongst flailing limbs and butts. Every tool has its advantages and limitations and it's the photographer's responsibility to understand them and use them accordingly.
Speaking of Gary coming to the defense of the poor wedding photographer, I've read that some time ago. Take note of the lawsuit party names, you can't make something like that up even if you tried...
