I'm also waiting to buy one used, seen offers at $3100 without even a single reply. Should be around $2800 max I think.

Not going to give the thing away, I kept it for that price, you pay like 6,500 and want it for more then half.. keep waiting.

Well, you have to keep in mind that the savvy and patient buyer can buy a brand new Canon 1D X for around $3,600, so you have to factor that into your selling price for a used camera body.

Don't get me wrong, I totally understand the desire to recoup money, but the best re-sale value happens before the next model is announced and that time has passed. Also, your really high-end camera bodies lose the most value since great mid-range cameras are usually released a few years after the high-end body came out. For example, in 2012, no other camera could offer the features that a Canon 1D X had. But now you can get a new 7D Mark II for $1,100-$1,250 and you can buy a new 5Ds for $2,850. Granted, these are totally different camera bodies than a 1D X, but technology marches on and there are a lot of options out there now.

Cheers,
Bryan

That depends on how much usage and wear and tear it has. If you can give us some more details, I can provide a pretty solid estimate for you.

Cheers,
Bryan

A new camera has a warranty too. Which is a BIG selling advantage for buying new.

Used equipment rarely goes up in value. Your 1DX will likely never be worth more than it is right now. As the price goes down in real dollars, inflation eats away at the value of the dollars you do get for. Double-whammy.

Don't get me wrong, I liked getting my 5Dc for $400, and my 1DIII for $600. Both prices are hugely below original retail. Someday your 1DX will be worth about the same.

I sell stuff when I don't need it anymore. Hanging on to stuff I'm not going to use is a sure way to lose money.

The 1DX Mark I price went down tremendously. I remember 4 years ago the retail price was over $6000. Now you can buy a new one for less then $3000 somewhere on the internet.

Would you mind providing a link for that? As of today, the best price you can find from an authorized Canon USA retailer is $4,169. And the new grey market 1D X bodies are not cheaper than that as of right now.

The best all-time low price for the Canon 1D X was back at the end of January of this year when the US dollar was its strongest against the Canadian dollar. At that time, a US buyer could buy a brand new 1DX for $3,550.

Cheers,
Bryan
