My first dolichopid fly of the year and very luckily a flash resistant one allowing me many flash shots without flinching or taking off. All shots focus stacked using zerene.
5Dmk2/MPE-65/430Ex flash.

The voices in my head may not be real, but they come up with some great ideas.

Man, I don't know how you do it! So many nice shots and different angles of a skittish fly. If it were me, I would be just hitting the right focus point and he'd take off. Or I'd try to take shots to stack and he'd move a little each time. lol

Very clean shots. Were these single-image and hand-held?

Wonderful set Brian.

Thanks for the comments Travis, John and Bas :)

John - They are handheld focus stacks. I was holding the leaf the fly was on in my left hand and resting the camera lens on my hand.
