I'm not familiar with this animal. The adult looks a little like a North American raccoon, but not enough like one. Is it a kind of bear, a kind of dog, or something else, and how do there come to be so many babies in one place? Do mothers pool their litters?

PRONOUN ADVISORY: OhLook is a she. | A FEW CORRECT SPELLINGS: lens, aperture, amateur, hobbyist, per se, raccoon, whoa, more so (2 wds.), shoo-in | IMAGE EDITING OK

They are called raccoon dog. Mothers can have up to 16 babies. I think that I've heard that they can pool their litters but I'm not sure if it's true.
