is F4+A7RII combo not good enough for Astro-Milkyway stuff considering the RII ISO performance?

I asked because i'm thinking about the Canon 17-40L

This was taken with a kit lens on a Canon 100D, unless you're doing astro a lot, I would just try what you've got first:

Not sure about using it on the A7RII, but I got this on my old 6D using the 17-40L

20 seconds iso 6400 @ F5

I've not used it on my A7II as I now have the Samyang 24mm for astro

Thanks Vinz! So I took your advice and joined a photo group a couple months back...just got so inundated with the family portrait gigs that I didn't have time, and am thinking I want to scale back on the paid stuff and do more of this. Any money I earn gets spent on gear I don't need any way lol so in the interest of growing and learning I'm thinking I should spend more time learning this stuff.

The group is run by a guy who teaches both photographers and models so we're all learning on the spot. It was awkward at first but once she hit her stride as a model and I hit mine as a photographer we go into the flow of shooting and posing and it was a lot of fun.

Couple more. CC please

Very nice Carlo. I'm curious about your "a bunch of..." comment. It appears that there are two light sources in these images, the main light shot through an octabox/softbox and a hair/fill light. Did you use multiple flashes in two positions or am I not seeing light coming in from other directions?

Would you guys pull the trigger on the Batis 18 if the opportunity presented itself? My birthday is coming up and my wife said I could get a lens. She didn't specify price range. Haha.

Just speaking for myself, but if the opportunity ever presents itself I want the Batis 18 and 25 and Loxia 21 and Rok 24 while still keeping the Sigma 20mm. :)

That's awesome Eddie. Thank you. The reason I asked is many of us here are landscape and architecture shooters.

Well, as it happens, I pulled the trigger on the Batis 25. Hoping it gets here before my upcoming trip to Arizona.

Congrats Nadim. I too just ordered the Batis 18. I bet Zeiss will announce a Loxia 15 now. Haha.

She didnt't specify the price? That to me means a blank check. Pre-order the 24-70f2.8 lol
