It appears that there are two light sources in these images, the main light shot through an octabox/softbox and a hair/fill light. Did you use multiple flashes in two positions or am I not seeing light coming in from other directions? So the lighting set-ups kind of vary because we were experimenting. But generally the key light is a 32 inch octabox at a 45 degree angle camera right. For the hair light we used a small 6 x 12 inch portable softbox at a 45 degree angle opposite of the fill. There's a 32 inch shoot through umbrella as a fill light directly to the left of the model. For some of the shots we used a 24 x 36 inch silver reflector in lieu of the umbrella. For the shots with the reddish tones in the backdrop we fired a gridded mini beauty dish with a red gel into the backdrop. focalpointsphoto.com

Used cheapo yongnuo 560ex ilghts for the whole thing. doesnt the recycle times go to hell with the YN? I use the RL 600 for such shooting when a lot of people are involved, and sometimes I'll have to chirp quickly and the YN can get in trouble keeping up, even if their main job is just fill. The RL 600 is a monster though, massive size and power. I agree with a bunch of lights though, whenever I strobe it, I've got all three lights out and reflectors. you want to "build" the light. Hair, rim, fill, background, you want to have that look on the fly, so best have your gear ready. Recycle times were good enough to keep up when we would get into a flow of shooting and posing through a long series of shots. I think the highest we needed to fire the flashes at was 1/8th power and it worked fine. focalpointsphoto.com

May 29, 2016 13:59 | #18186 So B&H or Adorama for the batis..Will they get then about the same time? Which might have the shorter backorder list "Vision is the art of seeing that which is invisible"

MedicineMan4040 The Magic Johnson of Cameras More info | May 29, 2016 15:43 | #18192 Trip is over. Begin the flights home tomorrow. The reasons for going to Iceland were landscapes. For Svalbard it was one certain animal. For the first three days I was thwarted-either trips were cancelled due to weather or just not within our reach that particular day. Definitely not my best pic but one of the costliest, craziest with the boat rides to get to the colonies, and most worrisome in that I wouldn't get one. I've imaged a lot of animals but Odobenus rosmarus has been tops for a long time=maybe a spirit animal Ha! But today the weather turned incredible, the Arctic Ocean was like a mirror and our big Zodiac could cruise along at 39mph. The whole trip just today took 11 hours but man was it so worth it- IMAGE LINK: https://flic.kr/p/HxhTMHflickr
