Its kind of funny. My Kenko 2x is better than my Kenko 1.4x when using regular AF. Manual focus or Contrast Detect with the 1.4x is tack sharp. My Sigma 2x TC beats the Kenko 2x only bc it has less CA. I had a 2x mk2 Canon TC and on the Sigma lens it fared worse than both the Sigma 2x and Kenko 2x TCs even with MFA. Kenko has got it right and wrong with PDAF depending on the versions of their TCs you buy.

Panasonic G9, Panaleica 100-400, Samyang 12mm F2 NCS CS, Sigma APO 2x DG EX TC, Tiffen aXent ND 3.0 (ND1000) filter, Olympus OMD E-M5, Oly 14-42mm, Oly 12-50mm, ZEQ25gt Mount, plus a few other lenses, extension tubes, and general mish-mash

Well, i have Canon 1.4x and 2x both mkIII, and still didn't sell my 1.4x II, so my mkIII are better, Canon improved them otherwise it is pointless to have mkIII if it is not better than mkII, right?

Also, i think you go with Kenko and Sigma because cheaper, but do you think that it is better than Canon TC mkIII?

Cheaper is nice, but I'm more interested in better photographs. The canon 2x mk II TC worked better than the Kenko when paired with the 200mm 2.8L II I used prior to picking up the Sigma 120-300. It should be no surprise canon won out when paired with a canon lens, but with other lenses the mk2 TC did not perform as well as the Kenko or Sigma TC. I actually posted some comparisons earlier in this thread. As for the mkIII TCs, I have no experience with them. What I currently have works.

This is only based on my experience but so far maybe my luck sucks but I haven't had any good success with any TC until I picked up the 1.4xIII... tack sharp wide open on the 120-300 I was amazed... very amazed.

And it should be, otherwise it will be wasting money to buy 1.4xIII coming from 1.4xII if there is no much differences, but i heard that those mkIII TC are more designed for recent or latest Canon mkII lenses such as 300/400/600/70-200 mkII, but good to know that it performs great even with non Canon lenses such as this 120-300, hope someone in another forum will test this on say Sigma 150-600 as well, i don't worry about primes, primes are sharp with TC and razor sharp without, i only care about zooms Canon or non Canon ones.

Kenko 1.4x on 200L is not great... FYI

I have both version III TCs. The 2x stays on most of the time and I am happy with the results.

Good for you, it depends on what you shoot and which lens, i can use 1.4x or 2x according to what i shoot, doesn't matter which stays longer.
