I think it's great! Super sharp - as sharp as the Loxia 21.

I need more time with it at f/1.4. At 20mm it's not going to show much OOF blur unless the focal distance is relatively close - and that's exactly what I want for night-time street shooting. In this case, my focal distance is relatively close (the signs) and the background does blur. The thing I really appreciate is that in spite of the 20mm focal length the OOF blur seems smooth and not too nervous to me - I'm pretty sensitive to that sort of thing.

Having found the 'On' switch on my new A7Rii, I thought I'd try a couple of low-light 'Vermeer-type' images.

that must be a perfect lens for receptions as i don't wanna shoot group photos below 35mm. please tell me more about the lens. does it have a constant aperture? can you autofocus it with an adapter?

It is a Minolta screw mount lens. It has to be used with the LAEA4 adapter since the LAEA3 doesn't have the focus motor built in. It is a constant F4 aperture. It has the typical (excellent) Minolta colors and a nice 3D type pop to the images in my opinion. The main weakness is vignetting wide open and harsh bokeh at times. I paid $15 for it since I already had an LAEA4.

Got it, thanks. That makes sense to have the ability to shoot in low light at a normal distance and not have too much blur in the out of focus areas.

So the next question is if the 70-200 2.8 is really 3500 bucks and the 2x adapter is at 500.... Is it worth 4k to have 400 mm in that package

I can't afford that but my answer would prob be yes would work good but look silly on the 6300

IMO, nope

I had the 70-200ii + 2xiii which would be a similar combo and the 2xiii took a tad too much IQ from the combo. It was still good, not great. Pretty sure the sony combo will be the same, teleconverters of the 2x type hurt iq noticeably.

90 2.8 and 70-200f4 and Rokinon 8mm fisheye

Adding Batis 18 and maybe VC10....... course looking at this list the 55 should stay in the bag for rounding out. Still looking for a solid 300mm choice. I really feel I could cover my world with the 18 90macro and 300!

So what's your solution for 70-200? The Sony FE?

Yes my FE 70-200/4 is solid... even with my little mark on the lens it is fast and sharp. Thats why I cant move to the 70-300 it wont be better even though I am missing that extra 100mm

now if they made a good Olympus to E converter I would pick up that new Oly 300 f4... even at 2500 bucks. My buddy shoots with that thing and its smaller than my 90mm

Thank you MM. That one was 1/400 sec at f2.8 and ISO 2500.

Here is one with the tele 1.4x with Silent Shutter taken a few days later. Worked well to reduce shake. 1/320 sec at f4.0 and ISO 400

Mamma and babies are doing well from what I could tell. They feed regularly.
