Man, you guys are getting some great sunsets lately.
It's not really sunset season here in SoCal. Clear skies as far as the eye can see, most days. Which makes for boring sunsets.

I don't think I realized how big that thing is. It's HUGE. Made it much easier for me to defer buying that and sticking to my lineup of primes. By the way, Mystic, if you're really interested in the 24-70/4, let me know. Mine's on the block. ![]() 24-70 f2.8 zooms are massive in general...which is why to me they're sort of specialized to low-light events where you need the on the fly flexibility and the light gathering ability of f2.8. focalpointsphoto.com

It's not my usual editing style but I think it works for the mood of this photo. I think black and white may also work nicely. I'm not crazy about my son's expression here but the a few frames later he did smile slightly. Unfortunately, he also moved a bit so focus was off. - Alfredo -

For the heck of it David, try opening this image in camera raw and using the white balance eye dropper, click on the bluish cut grass on the left. Then, hold down the shift key and double click on the 'whites' slider on the right. Thanks for the suggestion! Tried it and didn't give me quite what I wanted (though I did use a layer with that adjustment set to 35% opacity), so I also added an HSL adj layer and targeted a hue shift with the cyans. Now the dead grass has a more warm straw-like hue without modifying the colors of the adjacent grass. A layer mask limited the effect to just the grassy areas. Hopefully it looks much improved now. Considering putting one of the raw files up here for you guys to do your magic on. I want to prove to myself that there is nothing wrong with the pics, just my editing. Who's up for a contest of sorts? I don't like a contest (as in competition), but it would be fun to share different takes on the image. David | Flickr
