Canon EF 400mm f/4 DO IS

I bought a 2nd 7D mark ii from a friend who wasn't happy with it because he felt the images weren't sharp. Works fine for me

First frame, Special Olympics kids ran races as well.
Second frame, Grandgirl Shannon left and her relay team wait for their race to begin. I also used a Sony a7RII and 24-240mm lens for other shots and her run from the blocks.

It does make me a little angry to see the 400mm DO slandered all the time: I ran a little test today with a Sony a7RII and Sigma MC11 adapter
Also a Canon 7DII, both with the 2X TC III for 800mm, lens IS used with both cameras. I'll post them separately. First the Sony:

wow awesome shots! did you micro adjust yours lens and tc at all?

Not many posting here. I no longer own this lens, (sold it to a friend when I bought the 400 DOii) but I still enjoy this thread. I recently came across a couple of images from our trip to the Lower Rio Grande Valley, back in 2011. I have fond memories of that trip, and that lens. I always hand hold, don't own a tripod. I agree, this lens is better than it's reputation.

Decided to cut out of my office early today to hike a bit for my birthday, and never could have expected to come across one of my all-time bucket list animals – a snowy owl! Having recently moved from Florida to New England, and then being out of town for nearly 3 winter months in a row, I haven't had an opportunity this year to go out and see these guys yet. I knew they were around the area all winter, but seeing one in person was absolutely incredible. Couldn't have asked for a better birthday gift!
