I was fortunate enough to find this Great Horned Owl nest on my property. It was fun to keep an eye on them until they fledged last week...

You would be more than welcome ! There were actually 4 more nests within an hour's drive of here, plus we had a nice bunch of snowies this winter.
I was really pumped to have these guys in our own bushlot. I'm hoping they return next year !

Here are a couple more...

Dont you think they will return? At least some of them will surely stay in the area.

I really hope they do. The adults exhibited atypical behaviour, at least in my experience. Most adults will stay within sight of their nest, but I couldn't even get close to them. At the first sight of me, they would fly far away.

Dave, those are great! I am always on the hunt for Owl nest, but never lucky enough to find them early enough. My Barred nest this year, already had limb walkers by the time I found it, and they were gone before I had a second shot.

The one before that, was early, but blew down in a storm before they hatched. I was totally bummed out over that. It was an Owl I already had a relationship with, in that it had swooped down and grabbed my bobber, then pulled me around in the canoe doing the breast stroke like an Olympian, then climbed out on a log, and stole my worm off the hook, while I was fumbling with the camera trying to get from macro settings. I was trying to reel him in a little, with my camera in my hand, while laughing like a mad-man, and worrying about trying to get the hook out of a fighting Owl.

Another time at the same spot, I was 4' away from a Bullfrog at night, when from about 30' straight overhead she did the "woman screaming call" twice back to back. I knew what it was, having heard them maybe a dozen times before, but there is always a shadow of doubt that it could be a wild cougar. Why I didn't think to hit the video record button, I don't know. If I had, I'd have the best audio of any I can find on the internet.

Congrats, and thanks for sharing.
