Made some delicious Beef and Mushroom meatballs in a rich tomato sauce. Decided to pair them with some patas bravas, fried chorizo and cherry tomatoes with fresh basil.

Really like the perspective that you're working in. Aside from being very current stylistically, it's an interesting way to see the subject and is high on my list of using photography to show something that we might not normally see.

Nice job.

Thanks,
I am working on building a portfolio of different shots/processing styles/lighting. As part of that I am working to counter my OCD need to show all of every item in the image.

I'm also trying to focus on the image as a whole and not just the food on the plate. Things like mirroring colours of the food elsewhere in the image, balancing the image (two dishes at either end of the plate, cup at the top chopsticks at the bottom) etc etc. I usually spend several minutes preparing the shot as a whole (dishes, glasses, background, accessories) prior to introducing the food.

Well, cooked on my patio smoker anyway...

Cooking spare ribs on my smoker for the first time. This is how it looks at about the half way point. It''s now wrapped in tin foil for an additonal two hours of cooking.

Birthdays, Anniversaries and Fathers Day this weekend ... I decided to go with one of my favorite Chicken Tortillas Soup recipes.

This was a slightly updated version of Dean Fearings Chicken Tortillas Soup from when he worked at The Mansion in Dallas

Here is the link to the version I worked from (external link), for those who are interested.

Hope you enjoy!

Thanks, I got good reviews from my guests. (I just replaced the first image above with a better version).

I can hardly get some decent shots of the food I cook because my kitchen is too dark and my family is always desperate for what I whip up :)
Home-made baklava, really delicious, loaded with layers of pistachios and some almonds, not soggy, not sickening sweet, the real deal with a delicate fragrance of orange blossom water:)

That baklava looks like the baklava from my dreams! I've always wanted nuttier pastries, and I've managed to find a place that doesn't do it soggy, but it's still paltry in comparison. Great shot, too! I like the depth and layers present in #1 the best.

Looks delicious. Thank goodness I just ate or I'd be craving this even more than I am!

Looks fantastic Renata, never seen it like that but I suspect that's how it is supposed to be done.

Hoping NavyDoc (Gene) will see this and consider it for a two page spread in his "Man's Health" August issue ... :-P

I left room on the left and right for copy .... just having fun with this and hoping for some inspiration from Gene's post production skills.

Details - 85/15 Grass fed beef, studded with fresh chopped Serrano chilies and sweet yellow onion. Seasoned with fresh cracked black pepper, kosher salt, and Head Country Rub. Dressed with crisp Romain lettuce, sliced tomato and Hass Avocado on a Hawaiian Kaiser sweet bun

Served with skin on fries and southern pit BBQ beans.
