I visit them at least twice a week and feel really blessed to see them each time, Sometimes it takes about 30 min to 2 hr before I spot them but it is all worth it. Luckily the private property land owner/s where I set up my gear and take pictures of them are really nice. Maybe because they got used to me already for the past month being there :). Of course I asked permission on the first day I was there. I have tons of pictures and I apologized for posting same type of owl repeatedly.

Croppability. I wouldn't normally even attempt this shot, but there was little action that day and I just wanted to ID the bird. It shows what is possible given lots of practice and a little luck. 7D2 w/100-400 v1. handheld at 400mm.

Finally, more red fur!
I was starting to worry that you had become a full time birder with all the hummer shots :-)
Don't get me wrong, they are great shots and I'd love to see one but red fur is sort of your trademark.

Rod

PS: my last post was a beaver. Today I, maybe, got some good shots of a muskrat. Will know for sure when I download them. OK, so it's another soggy rodent. Not cute like your red fur :-)

Edit: the muskrat pictures could be a big maybe. Started the transfer to my PC and it coughed up a hairball. I've got a partition going south. At this time I know I lost at least 20 of those shots. Currently in emergency salvage mode. Copying files to a good partition and burning to DVDs. --it happens.

Rod,
You are certainly due for so better luck!

Very nice, Larry!

Something similar I did a while back.. not quite as drastic as yours but pretty nice nonetheless!

Gear List

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.
