Have you tried moving to the left a bit so you could get a bit more profile on the buildings next to the lighthouse? Is it possible at all? Also, not sure what look you're trying to achieve with the coloring... right now, I'd say the somewhat overly yellow cast can be a bit distracting. What kinds of different lighting scenarios (early morning, sunset) have you been able to try? Difficult I know, but trying to get this cloudy-ish with a ND filter could be great too.

In any case, a location that definitely has great potential, you'll definitely be able to get something great out of it... wish there were places like these within bus range of the Ottawa downtown ;)

If you think you've seen this before, you're right. It's on page 972, and I apologise for posting it again. But I've been chewing it over for a while and thinking my original effort wasn't quite right. I eventually decided it would be better without the distracting mountains in the background. So I did a sharp crop, made it panorama-like, and for good measure converted it to BW. It was almost monochrome anyway. My usual inclination is to fill the frame, but sometimes a crop is needed, I reckon. An improvement? I'd love to know what what you guys think.

Haven't used this lens much since picking up several months ago when Canon had a fab price on refurb. Don't think I'm getting quite the results as Will is with his. It's been a while since I've been out birding.

I am going to be....

...moth.

Probably.

Most likely an angle-shade moth I think.

See that pointy end at the left side? If I touch the cocoon, it moves sharply, so there is life in full growth inside, but I'm not sure when the birth of a moth is due.

In 3 days it has actually moved about 2 inches across the surface of the ground...

This little micro moth landed on the edge of a leaf on the Queen Elizabeth rose bush this evening (well, late at night) as I was on one my late night wanderings around the garden.

Managed to get three reasonable shots of it - the first is the enviro shot, the second you can see the proboscis curled away, and the third you can see the proboscis has been extended.

The moth is around 8mm long.

Once these become ladybirds they will continue to eat loads of the aphids on my garden. Just now I dozens of these especially on the clematis.

The green eyed monster - jealousy - might even exist in the insect world you know. Take a look here at the shield bug activity I spotted today amongst the clematis...

Take one lovelorn single stink bug, with no company to begin with, and then just an aphid to chat to... Only to a few leaves away and on a nearby flower... Two of them - giving it what for!!! And man-o-man do they like to keep at it for a while!

After two day storm with lightening, thunder and torrential rain. The sky cleared and the Balloons got up again. This my favourite pic of the night.

Funny story. Most of the time we're at work and out on our vape break, there's a dove(?) there also, minding its own business. A few weeks ago, we were talking about vacations and for some reason Thailand came up in the conversation. The dove reacted to Thailand, so now everytime it's there, I'm saying it, and it works every time. Today I brought my camera and sneaked close, and got a decent photo :
