Red - spotted Jezebel Butterfly

Finally I have got a butterfly shot I am happy with.
Found it when I went out in my front yard to take some bird shots, but they seen the black lens and took off as they always do.
Then I happened to look down and seen it, a quick lens change and back to it and got these plus more.

Thanks for that as I am quite new to this section and yet I have done a few I know I am a long way from knowing a great deal on what and how to get it all done right. So thanks for your comment and I have to agree.

Welcome aboard. The first capture would have been great if you had caught the eye in focus.

You have the main composition bit done, you left space in front of the subject. On the second you have also managed the main rule (which of course can be broken) - focus on the eyes.

If I had taken these even after a year or two of macro shooting I would have been pretty pleased with myself.

Thank you to everyone who has made comment on these shots that I got of this Butterfly.
To get a photo of one has been on my list of thing I really wanted to get and now I am happy.
As it has been mentioned about the one shot is good fo rone part and the other is good for the other part.
When I looked at them I totally agree with what has been said.
I looked in the folder where I have got these and on a Facebook thing i can as many as I want to and this next shot was one of them.
It I think has got the right mix and I am hoping that you will agree with me on this one.

I would up the ISO to 400 so you could use a smaller aperture and get everything in focus and still have a decent shutter speed. I pretty much only use ISO 100 for tripod work (or flash).
