For the curious among you, here is what the FE 85 f1.4 lens looks like mounted on the a6300. That makes an effective 127.5mm f1.4 field of view.

Any idea why my ISO 6400 a7rii shot above shows as ISO 8000 in lightroom?

EDIT - Also, when I was editing that photo I was thinking "man ISO 8000 is really clean on the A6300". Its just dawned on me that its a photo OF the a6300 not with the A6300:-P

Cool! 8-) But, how it looks on the camera isn't what is making me curious. What is making curious is wondering if it can simulate a 135mm(ish) f/2 when shooting it at f/1.4 on the 6300.

Here's a test of bokah produced using the FE 85 f1.4 lens wide open on the a6300.

(I didn't have a real model to shoot so I used a yard gnome.) :p

Bokeh looks amazing; so smooth, so awesome!

One observation I keep making to myself from viewing so many 85mm GM shots is: While the lens is an absolute marvel, colors seem a touch dull to my eyes - like there is a gray wash over the image. That isn't a criticism because it should be a simple thing to bump up the saturation just a bit to compensate since the images look clean (no color cast). I could be just seeing things, but it's a definite sense I get from viewing a lot of 85mm GM shots - even with Carlo's informative and interesting GM vs Batis comparison thread.

EDIT: Just gave it a try using a vibrance adj layer, I bumped the Sat. slider to +20 to get the color that my eyes want to see.

It's funny you mention the flatness of the image David. I just finished completing my edit of it the way I would normally. I'll post it below now and update the Flickr image later. It's a sunny but hazy day today and so the contrast is very low. I don't think it is inherent in the lens anyway but more shooting will verify that.

Here's my edit and I'll post a shot I also took indoors using flash shortly too.

the saturation on tests side by side vs the batis, it's lower for sure, however compared to most other 85, I think the GM is higher saturation and contrast. It's surprisingly contrasty, I just dont recall any 85's that good. Just my speculation on the subject of 85's.

maybe the socal haze today

This probably isn't the best example to use for bokah using this lens wide open but here it is anyway. Even though eye AF didn't work on the gnome's eyes, I was still able to have the eyes in focus even though his nose is not. :-D

(On my outdoor shot above, I thought it best at first to do minimal editing but I guess it's better to edit to what I consider a final result before I post it)

My new Lowepro Pro Roller x300 AW arrived today. Note that this is the newer version, not the older one shown on Amazon that I ordered. I had a hunch the description was in error so am prepared to go ahead and keep this one. It looks like there is plenty of storage space for me and I'm looking forward to transferring all my cameras and lenses to it.

I'll get some photos after it's packed too.

Ive noticed an issue with my a6300 files. I updated lightroom so that the RAWs could be read but now when I right click and choose "open in photoshop" photoshop opens but the image doesnt appear. My A7RII files are fine, its just the a6300.

Its as if they are not compatible in photoshop? Anyone else had this?
