Love when you find little surprises. Shooting from pretty far off, never saw the turtles till I uploaded the images onto the computer!

A blue heron wiped out my small pond goldfish in one sitting . They need a "flight path" to land so the best resource is to plant tall vegetation that stops that but that's not always viable. They get round flight path impedance by landing close and "walking in". They can't see mono fishing line and the bonus is that it doesn't detract from the aesthetics of a pond such as a net would. Surround the pond with canes holding thin mono (4lb bs is enough) at about the knee height of a heron. A twig they would step over, but for some reason (possibly they don't know/can't see what has touched them) mono gives them the sh**s and they back off.
